The world is changing and Tropico is moving with the times - geographical powers rise and fall and the world market is dominated by new players with new demands and offers - and you, as El Presidente, face a whole new set of challenges. If you are to triumph over your naysayers you will need to gain as much support from your people as possible. Your decisions will shape the future of your nation, and more importantly, the size of your off-shore bank account.
Tropico 4 expands on the gameplay of the previous game with new political additions including more superpowers to negotiate with, along with the ability to elect ministers into power to help get your more controversial policies passed. But remember to keep your friends close and your enemies closer as everyone has an agenda! Your political mettle will be thoroughly tested, as new natural disasters will have the populace clamoring for you and your cabinet to help them recover from some of the worst Mother Nature can dish out.
Tropico 4 also brings a new level of social interaction with the addition of Facebook and Twitter integration. Post comments on Twitter direct from the game and have updates go out when you complete missions or unlock new achievements. You can even take screenshots of your burgeoning island and post your dream creation on your Tropico 4 Facebook page and compare your interactive Dictator Ranking on the online leaderboards.
Tropico 4: Modern Times
The times are changing and the island nation of Tropico is evolving. The Internet, a New World Order, terrorists, global financial markets and space exploration are on the rise and pose new challenges to El Presidente and his regime.
Old buildings and structures are becoming obsolete and need to be upgraded or even replaced by their modern counterparts. Cars and transportation need modernization to meet the needs of a changing economy; and now El Presidente can even send people to the International Space Station! El Presidente and his ministers must now join the war against terror and control Internet regulation and freedom of speech on Tropico.
Tropico 4: Quick-Dry-Cement DLC
Build the ultimate Tropican metropolis! The new cement factory accelerates all construction on the island, the "Constructor" trait gives your construction workers a skill boost and the engineer helmet makes El Presidente look like a real pro. A Tropican flagpole, small park, flower beds, trees and the constructor statue are among the new decoration items. The "Largest City in the Caribbean" mission will see you build a huge, sprawling metropolis across an entire island while fighting all kinds of disasters.
Tropico 4: Plantador DLC
Get into the plantation business! Construct new plantations for more workers and larger fields, choose the "Plantador" character trait for improved agricultural production and export prices and wear a sombrero. New decoration items include a water reservoir, a windmill, flower beds and trees. The mission "Research" challenges you to build a profitable industry while researching and unlocking new buildings as you go.
Tropico 4: Junta Military DLC
Time to get military! Secure your rule of Tropico with the new bunker, the "Veteran" character trait for a more battle-hardened military leader and an appropriate dress uniform. Decorate the island with the new guard booths, oberservation tower, ammunitions depot, barricades and a tank! The "New Sparta" mission will see you build a militaristic society while under pressure from pesky rebels.
Tropico 4: Pirate Heaven DLC
Turn your island into a pirate haven, the Tortuga of modern times! Abducting ships for ransom, pillaging and plundering is a surefire way to worsen your relations with the foreign powers, so you will have to take special measures to prevent an invasion. The new smuggler’s hut building allows imports even during an embargo but at higher prices, don a pirate queen outfit and use the sailor trait for increased ship traffic and a boost to all naval-themed buildings.
Tropico 4: Megalopolis DLC
Build the largest city in the Caribbean on an island with constant influx of immigrants. Deal with problems such as unemployment, over-population and food shortages. Use the Conventillo, a cheap residential building that houses many residents using little space. Wear an old-fashioned suit with a monocle, mayoral necklace and use the bureaucrat trait for cheaper residential buildings and more profits from the “building permit” edict.
Tropico 4: Vigilante DLC
People on the island know him as El Presidente, their absolute ruler. Little they suspect that he is also the Masked Avenger, the mysterious dashing rogue that wages war against crime, rebels and political dissidents. Use the new labor camp to put convicts to good use, wear the original Zorro mask and use the Alter Ego trait to improve crime safety.
