    Beginning October 2012, we're upgrading our entire site.   • What requirements must my account email meet?

    Emails must be in proper email format (username@domain.com), contain less than 100 characters, and cannot contain a plus (+) sign or spaces.

  • What requirements must my password meet?

    Passwords must be at least 6 characters long and contain at least one number or symbol from among !@#$%* and no spaces.

  • I forgot my password. How do I get it back?

    To reset your forgotten password, please follow the steps below:

    1. Visit impulsestore.gamestop.com/ns/Forgot.
    2. From there, enter your account email address in the form and click "Submit."
    3. We will then send you an email to the associated email address with instructions on how to reset your password.
    4. If you do not receive the email, please check your junk/spam folders to ensure the email was not filtered.
  • I know my password but want to change it. How do I do that?

    To change your password, you will need to:

    1. Login to your GameStop account.
    2. Go to My Account and click the link that says "View and Change Account Information."
    3. Find the "Change Your Password" section and enter your existing password and new passwords in the appropriate form fields.

  • Where can I buy a PC Downloads game?

    You can buy a PC Downloads game from GameStop from one of three places:

    1. Your local GameStop Store (US Customers Only) - Our entire catalog of over 1,500 games are available for purchase at the register. Ask a store associate!
    2. GameStop.com/PC - Browse through our vast PC Downloads catalog on GameStop.com! Just look for titles that say "Buy Download".
    3. The GameStop App - You can buy directly from the GameStop App, making it your one-stop shop for both buying AND playing your games.
  • Can I get PowerUp Rewards points with my purchase?

    Yes! If you purchase in-store, be sure to hand your PowerUp card to the store associate while they ring you up. Points will be added to your account automatically.

    If you purchase from GameStop.com or the GameStop App, be sure to type in your PUR Member number during checkout to get credit for your purchase.

  • What forms of payment are accepted?

    If you are purchasing a PC Downloads title in-store, you can use any form of payment your local store accepts. Online, we accept the following forms of payment:

  • What currencies are supported?

    GameStop PC Downloads supports all currencies in supported countries. Prices charged may vary by country or region and are determined by contract with the publisher/developer who holds the rights for a title (i.e. Euros may be charged instead of the Norwegian Krone). Exchange rates may also vary, depending on the time of purchase and your financial institution or method of payment.

  • Why isn't Game X available in my country?

    Games are made available to specific countries/geographic regions depending on the contracts we have signed with the publisher/developer. If a title is not available in your country, it means we do not have rights to sell there.

  • Can I purchase games as gifts for my friends?

    Yes! During the checkout process, click the "Purchase as Gift" button (between the "Continue Shopping" and "Checkout" buttons).

    This will take you to the next page where you can enter your friend's e-mail address or GameStop PC Downloads user nick-name. It is very important that you get this information correct. If you do not know your friend's account nickname, enter his or her e-mail address.

    If your friend does not receive the gift after you have received your order confirmation e-mail, please let us know ASAP by sending a message to downloadsupport@gamestop.com. Please include the order number and your friend's correct email address.

  • If I reformat my hard drive or get a new computer, will I need to purchase my games again?

    No. Your games are tied to your GameStop PC Downloads account and can be re-downloaded at a later time. Just reinstall the GameStop App to your PC, login with your existing account, and get your games!5

  • Can I get a physical copy of my game?

    No. Our service only provides downloads for PC games. If you want to purchase a physical copy of a title, please visit your local GameStop store.

  • How do I install the GameStop App?

    The GameStop App is designed to be easy to install and use. Here's how to install the App:

    • Download the latest version of the GameStop App from www.impulsedriven.com/about
    • Once downloaded to your PC, double-click on "GameStopApp_Setup.exe" to run the installer.
    • Step through the installation prompts, agreeing to the EULA, determining where on your PC you want to install the App and where to install downloaded games to by default.
    • Once installation is complete, launch the GameStop PC App from the shortcut on your desktop
    • Either create a new account or log in to your existing GameStop PC Downloads (formerly Impulse) account.

  • How do I download games from the GameStop App?

    All of your purchased games can be found on the "My Games" tab. Launch the GameStop App, login and click on "My Games" along the top of the App window to see your games.

    Once on the My Games tab, mouse-over the game you want to install and click on the "Install" button to begin the download and installation of your game.

    When the game is done installing, a "Play" button will appear. Click on that to start your game.

  • Where do I find the serial number/product code for my game?

    Select your game on the My Games tab, and click on the "Product Code" button. This will show you your game's main product code, plus any DLC/bonus codes for that title on your account.


  • How do I change where the GameStop PC App installs my games?
    • Click on the Gear Icon, and select "Settings"
    • Click on "Folders"
    • Click on the "Change..." button under the Install Location for My Games
    • Browse to where on your PC you wish to install new games from now on6
  • How do I enable/disable the GameStop Now Application?
    • From the Windows System Tray, right-click on the GameStop Now icon
    • Select Settings
    • Under "General", check or un-check "Load GameStop Now on Startup"
    • Click OK
  • How do I uninstall the GameStop App?
    • Click on the Start Menu
    • Select Control Panel

Troubleshooting
  • My game download stalls at a certain percentage or is stuck at Download Starting/Stopping.

    This could be a number of issues:

    • Router Issues - The download process may sometimes be interfered with from an issue emerging from the router. Unplug your router and connect your computer directly to your internet connection to test the issue. Try launching the stalled game by double clicking it. This may allow the download to finish.
    • Your ISP - Some ISPs (Internet Service Providers) slow network traffic to specific users if the user has downloaded or uploaded a significant amount. This practice is called "throttling." If your speed is slow across multiple devices, this could be why. Contact your ISP for more details.
    • The issue may also be due to other programs interfering with the GameStop App. Please refer to the "Common Programs that can interfere with the installation & operation of the GameStop App" question below to further test the issue.
  • The GameStop App fails to start and doesn't display an error message.

    The GameStop PC App may fail to start and continue running in the background without loading the Login box, or it may silently terminate.

    To determine whether the GameStop PC App has silently terminated or is still running, please check the Windows Task Manager:

    1. Press the CTRL, ALT, and DEL keys simultaneously
    2. Click the Task Manager button and select the Processes tab
    3. If you can locate GameStop.exe under the Image Name column, the GameStop App is running in the background.

    Once you have determined whether the GameStop PC App is running or not:

    1. The GameStop PC App continues running in the background - Third-party applications most likely cause this issue by interfering with the GameStop PC App. Please see the "Common Programs that can interfere with the installation & operation of the GameStop App" topic for instructions to ensure any conflicts are resolved.
    2. The GameStop PC App does not continue to run in the background- Please contact GameStop PC Downloads support at downloadsupport@gamestop.com.
  • The GameStop App crashes when I try to apply an update.

    There are a number of things that could cause this issue. Here are some solutions:

    • Check for Windows Updates - To ensure that your version of your OS is up to date, run Windows update. Also check for any hot fixes available.
    • Make sure Network Ports 80 and 443 are open on your router/allowed by your ISP. We also recommend Ports 6666 and 6667 for the client.
    • Check for Interfering Programs - Some commonly used applications interfere with the normal operation of the GameStop PC App. Please see the "Common Programs that can interfere with the installation & operation of the GameStop App" question below for details.
  • Common Programs that can interfere with the installation & operation of the GameStop App

    Below is a list of applications that can cause issues with the GameStop PC Downloads gaming experience.

  • My Anti-Virus/Security software is flagging a game downloaded from the GameStop App as malicious.

    All games are scanned for viruses, spyware and trojans before they are released on the GameStop PC Downloads platform. If your anti-virus or security application is flagging a game file as suspicious, it is likely a false-positive. As an extra precaution, do an additional virus scan of your system to ensure no other problems exist. If no other issues are found, consider adding the flagged game file to your anti-virus or security program’s whitelist/exceptions list. If you do not know how to do this, you will need to consult the documentation for your particular antivirus software or contact their support to assist you with this.

  • The GameStop App can’t connect to the server.

    In most cases this will be either your firewall and/or antivirus software blocking the GameStop PC App traffic. You should only need to add the PC App to your list of trusted applications for both your antivirus and firewall.

    If you are still having issue connecting/downloading through the PC App, try connecting directly to your internet modem and bypassing your router if you have one. If you are still having issues, you might want to consider speaking with your internet service provider (ISP) to ensure that they are not blocking part or all of the PC App’s traffic. This is most common with University/College campus networks.

    In some rare cases it might be a configuration issue with your router/modem. In this case, if it is equipment issued by your internet service provider, you will want to call their support department and see if they can walk you through changing the configuration to allow the PC App to properly access your connection.

  • When I start the GameStop PC Client, I see this error message: '.NET Configuration Issue: csc.exe' and the client crashes. What does it mean and how do I fix the issue?

    This error indicates that your computer may be infected with Malware/Spyware that is disabling key Windows components the client needs to run. We recommend using one of the Malware/Spyware tools listed below to scan your PC and fix the issue.

    If, after running one of these tools, the problem persists please email downloadsupport@gamestop.com for further assistance. When e-mailing, please be sure to include the '.NET Configuration Issue: csc.exe' error message in the subject line.
